Over 250 riders.. Tracks Looking Good.. Weather looking Great!
On Line Entries Close 5pm Wed 28th March

With over 250 riders already registered and entries still coming in, LunarC 2012 is going to be a huge night as all those Lunartic Mountain Bikers strap on their lights for Australia's most unique mountain biking event.

After a course inspection today we can report that the course is looking good, with only a few muddy patches on some of the trails. The course remains as a 9.5km track, as the section we had re-routed for the February date is still not suitable to ride. The weather is looking good with just possible passing showers predicted.

A riders list will be published on Wednesday, so keep an eye out for that one, and full joining instructions will be sent out on Wednesday evening.

Entries close 5pm Wednesday... so just a few hours get on line and be a part of the MADNESS!

News Bulletin: 4pm Thursday 23rd February, 2012
LunarC 8hr XC MTB Rescheduled to 30th/31st March, 2012

As you may be aware we have been monitoring the track conditions and weather closely last night and today.  We have been on site this afternoon monitoring the track and environmental conditions on the property and due to a significant amount of rainfall this morning and continuing rain this afternoon, we have had to make the very challenging decision to reschedule the event.

The trails are currently very soft under foot in most places and even the fire trails and larger tracks are muddy and soft. This morning the forecast was that the rain would ease this afternoon and tomorrow, however, the forecast has now changed to “Showers increasing to Rain for tomorrow.  The tracks would not be in a condition to run an enjoyable and safe race for participants.

The Reasons for the Decision

  1. Participant Experience: We value the experience that participants take away from our events and we believe that the current conditions would not make for an enjoyable event for most people involved.
  2. Environment: At In 2 Adventure we enjoy a bit of mud, however, this love of adventure also needs to be measured against environmental considerations and participant enjoyment. Due to the nature of the event (ie a lapped course ridden for 8 hours), the significant impact on the environment and the damage that would be done to the trails (especially the new single track we have spent over 4 weeks developing for the event) would not be acceptable or in line with our company principles or policies.

Why Has this Decision only been made today?
Last night at 8pm the tracks at Murrenbong were dry and the weather forecast this morning indicated that the rain would be light and clearing.  Contrary to this, significant rain fell on the property before lunch and this afternoon the forecast changed to increasing rain.  All this only became apparent this afternoon.

This decision has been a difficult one, impacting on finances, logistics & workload, and it would have been much easier to go ahead and run the event, however, we started our business based on a set of principles that to us aren’t just words on paper, but principles that guide our decision making, and it is these principles PARTICIPATION – ENVIRONMENT – COMMUNITY that have supported this decision.

We fully understand that this will be disappointing for a lot of people, however, we have made this judgement based on the prevailing circumstances, our company principles and, we believe, in the best interest of our customers.

For entrants, there is no need to do anything, as per the Refunds Policy all entries will be automatically transferred to the new date. The venue remains at Murrenbong Scout Camp and the significant amount of work that has been done on existing trails and the development of some all new and exciting single track over the past few weeks will also contribute to the course being in tip top shape for March.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss anything in relation to the rescheduling, please feel free to call us on the numbers below or drop us an email.
Please ensure that your friends and team mates who were racing are aware of this rescheduling.

We thank you for your understanding and look forward to seeing all you Lunartics on the Dark Side in March!

Best wishes
The Robyn & Simon & the In 2 Adventure Team

LunarC Event Update
At this stage all is looking good for the event to go ahead.  The rain is forecast to ease this evening and tomorrow. The tracks were looking good last night when we were there with no rain on site up until 8pm.  Depending on conditions, the course may change to take out the small sections of low lying track. We will be on site this afternoon and will monitor the track and weather conditions and will post a notice on this page with any changes
