Weekend Dirt Fest 2010/11 NEWS
DIRT FEST VICTORIA: Jubilee Lake, Daylesford
Rhys Newsome & Joanne King-Hudson crowned Victoria's Dirt Master & Dirt Mistress Champions!
 |
Dirt Fest Victoria on the 19th & 20th of March delivered a non-stop, heart pumping flurry of Hardcore Adventure as 17 seasoned champions lined up for the Victorian Dirt Master & Dirt Mistress Championships along with 250 other ‘Off Road’ enthusiasts!
Taking on everything from the Salomon Tre-X Off Road Triathlon, Trail Running among the trails and hills in beautiful Wombat State Forest and taking on one of the most physically demanding Mountain Bike courses of the series it was neck and neck excitement as these athletes pushed their hearts, minds and bodies to the limit in 2 days of Hardcore Off Road Action covering 86.5km on mountain bike, on foot and on the water.
And after the adventure, sunshine, dirt and mud mixed with a bucket load of guts, heart and determination, it was RHYS NEWSOME from Black Rock taking out the title of Victorian Dirt Master Champion and JOANNE KING HUDSON from Torquay bringing it home for the girls as the Victorian Dirt Mistress Champion.

Joanne King-Hudson made her mark on the event from the outset taking out the win in all three events in what was a hard fought race with Peri Gray in 2nd and Donna Urquhart in 3rd.
In the male competition the guys were mixing up with Rhys Newsome taking line honours at the Tre-X event and in the Trail Run on Saturday. An early break from a number of contenders in the Mountain Bike event meant it was anyone’s title with Matt Tait putting in a strong performance on Sunday’s 50k event. But Rhys held on for the last few laps to take out the title with Rohan Creed in 2nd and Russell Kennedy in 3rd.
Of the 17 contenders for the Dirt Master & Dirt Mistress title the following athletes proudly take their place in the DIRT MASTER HALL OF FAME: |

IMPORTANT BREAKING NEWS: Thursday 10th March, 2011
Salomon Tre-X Champs & Qld Dirt Fest Venue Change
Throughout 2011 we have been liaising with the property owners and monitoring the weather and course conditions at Slickers. Due to the recent extreme weather, last Friday, the property owners have requested that the event not be held at the venue to avoid any possible damage to the site.
2011 has certainly been an interesting year for events, with us having to reschedule two events and move locations for another, which is challenging for all parties concerned. However, we tend to thrive on a challenge and despite the obstacles faced, we have focussed on the positive and moved forward with the aim to avoid disappointment and to ensure we deliver the very best event possible.
The good news is that we now have an all new event site on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, just one hour north of Brisbane. Camp Wildeco is based on the banks of spectacular Ewen Maddock Dam and is surrounded by beautiful natural bushland.
In 2 Adventure have staged a number of adventure events from this location and had planned a future Tre-X and Dirt Fest weekend in 2012 at this venue, mainly because of the on site facilities and the great mountain biking and trail running in the area.
So now, the move has just had to happen a little earlier than expected. The location was chosen to minimise the impact on entrants as it is only 30 minutes additional driving from the south, is closer to those on the Sunshine Coast, and offers superior facilities for a weekend event.
More Facilities: Including Hot Showers!
Wildeco Holiday Camp offers many additional facilities which will make participants stay much more comfortable and enjoyable.
Facilities include:
- Hot Showers
- Accommodation on Site – Bunk Beds – Dormitory style rooms
- Camping on Site
- Drinking water on site
- Toilets
- A Large Dining Hall for meals & the Saturday Night Celebration Dinner
- Large open grassy areas
- Beach & Swimming in the Dam
- Undercover HQ area
- Mountain Biking and Trail Running on the doorstep
The Course
This course has everything for a championship event including a stunning swim location, fantastic mountain biking including fast, flowing single tracks and some great off road trail running through beautiful rain forests.
Catering & Saturday Night Celebration Dinner
With full kitchen facilities on site the team from Mt Cotton Scouts will be cooking up a storm throughout the weekend, including a ‘not to be missed’ pasta & salad buffet on Saturday Evening.
With the new location and dining hall, the Saturday evening dinner will be a great opportunity to relax, have a great meal, catch up with other competitors and share war stories from the days action, and stay up to date with the all important Dirt Master & Dirt Mistress Standings.
There’ll be music, and Coach Jeff, our resident MC will be on hand to round off the days action and keep us entertained throughout the evening.
Bookings are Essential. Book on line now ($20 adults, $10 children under 10 yrs) and pay on the night.
Camping & Accommodation Bookings
Wildeco Camp offers camping and accommodation with full facilities including hot showers.
Camping & Accommodation Options Include:
- Camping with Vehicles (including car, small caravan or camping trailer) – 20 spaces only - $10 per person per night
- Camping without Vehicles - $10 per person per night
- Accommodation: Bunk Beds in dormitory style rooms - $20 per person per night
Bookings are essential and spaces will be allocated on a ‘first in best dressed’ basis.

After a weekend of adventure, sunshine, , dirt, mud and rain mixed with a bucket load of guts, heart and determination a huge congratulations goes out to our NSW Dirt Master Champion KYLE WARD and our NSW Dirt Mistress Champion NINA WRIGHT. It was neck and neck excitement throughout the weekend as competitors pushed their hearts, minds and bodies to the limit.
The all new weekend Dirt Fest & Dirt Master Challenge kicked off with a bang at Riverside Oaks Golf Resort, just 55 minutes north on Sydney. Based on the banks of the stunning Hawkesbury river, Riverside Oaks is In 2 Adventure's new home of adventure in NSW and the purpose built mountain bike course, scrambling trail run and river swim proved a winner with competitors.
Nina Wright once again has stamped her dominance in the world of 'Off Road' Racing taking out a neck & neck race with Sue Thompson and Janet Martin with the lead changing several time throughout the weekend. In the male competition it was a hard fought battle between Adam Conquest & International Mountain Biker Kyle Ward, but a blinding time of 1:59:57 for the mountain bike on Sunday morning saw Kyle just pip Adam at the post with Klayten Smith in 3rd.
